Day1. Arrival - Luang Prabang
On arrival in Luang Prabang transfer to
hotel. In the afternoon after a brief
orientation tour of the spiritual capital of
Laos before climbing the 328 steps to the
top of Mount Phousi to enjoy a panoramic
view of the city and the surrounding
countryside. Stop at the evening hilltribe
market. Overnight in Luang Prabang
Day2, Luang Prabang (B)
After breakfast, visit beautiful Wat Xieng
Thong showing its best face in the morning
sun, before heading to the former Royal
Palace, now the National Museum and Wat Mai,
a temple renowned for its golden
bas-reliefs. In the afternoon, continue the
exploration of town with stops at Wat That,
Wat Visun and Wat Aham. Cross the Mekong for
a walk on the opposite riverside and climb
to Wat Chompet and a different view of the
city for sunset. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 3 Luang Prabang - Pak Ou cave (B)
Breakfast at hotel,
take an excursion (a few hours) to visit Pak
Ou cave. En route, Lao typical villages are
barely visible behind a screen of foliage.
Visit Ban Xanghai, the well-known village
for Lao traditional rice whisky to be
distilled and tasted. Lunch at local
restaurant by Mekong river. Return to Luang
Prabang boat and continue by car to visit
Ban Xangkhong, the well-known village for
its wood paper making and also Lao silk
weavings with natural dyes. Overnight in
Luang Prabang
Day 4 ,Luang Prabang – Khouangsi Waterfalls
(B)
Breakfast, this morning you may want to rise
early and participate in the daily early
morning ritual of saffron-clad monks with
their black Alms-giving bowls being given
offerings from the local people, including
the ubiquitous sticky rice. From there you
will visit the morning Phosi Market where
you will see such diverse offerings as dried
buffalo skin, local tea and saltpeter among
the chickens, vegetables and hill-tribe
weavings. Laos is also known for its
traditional handicrafts, and today you will
visit local village of Lao ethnic minority
groups at Ban Ouay and Ban Thapene and the
weaving village of Ban Phanom. Time
permitting you may also wish to drive to the
beautiful Khouangsi Waterfall where you can
splash around in the pools or walk along the
forest paths, overnight in Luang Prabang
Day 5, Luang Prabang – Departure (B)
After breakfast, visit a weaving village
where traditional Lao textiles are woven and
where Sa paper is made. Stop at Wat Pa Phon
Pao, a forest retreat. Return to town and
transfer to the airport for departure
flight.
