Day 1 :: Arrival Yangon by morning flight ::

Our
guides will meet on arrival at Yangon
International Airport and transfer to hotel.
Today's sightseeing tour includes the old
colonial-style city centre with the gilded SULE
PAGODA, dating back to over 2,000 years, and a
visit to BOGYOKE (SCOTT'S) MARKET with hundreds
of stores (closed on Monday) and gem shops. The
tour continues to CHAUK HTAT GYI, a huge
reclining Buddha image followed by a photo stop
made at KARAWEIK HALL, a royal floating barge.
An extended visit to SHWEDAGON PAGODA, one of
the world's most spectacular religious
monuments, will conclude the tour of this
picturesque Garden City. The golden dome of the
Shwedagon Pagoda rises 98 meters above its base
and is covered with 60 tons of pure gold. Stay
overnight at Hotel in Yangon.
Day 2 :: Yangon - Bagan by morning flight ::

Transfer to Yangon Airport for domestic flight
to Bagan. Upon arrival in Bagan, transfer to
hotel and proceed for sightseeing starting with
the busy local market and continue to a diverse
selection of the most important pagodas and
temples such as SHWEZIGON PAGODA, built by King
Anawrahta in the early 11th century, KU BYAUK
GYI, a temple with exquisite murals of Jataka
scenes, KHAY MIN GA TEMPLE, noted for its
spectacular panoramic view of the area's many
monuments and ANANDA TEMPLE with four huge
standing Buddha images and numerous seated
figures in niches inside the gallery. Afternoon
visit to lacquer craftsmen's workshop in nearby
MYINKABA village and sightseeing to MANUHA
TEMPLE, built in Mon style in 1059, NANBAYA
TEMPLE, a unique sandstone monument, said to
have been the palace of King Manuha and MYINGABA
GU BYAUKGYI TEMPLE, noted for its ancient mural
paintings under the protection of UNESCO.
Observe sunset in the vicinity of Bagan's
ancient monuments. Stay overnight at Hotel in
Bagan.
Day 3 :: Bagan - Mount Popa - Bagan :: B/-/-
After
breakfast, proceed on a scenic overland journey
to Mount Popa, an extinct volcano with its
shrine dedicated to animist spirits, known as "Nats".
For the energetic, there is time to climb the
777 steps to the shrine at the top of the
volcanic plug and enjoy the breathtaking view
over the valley. In the afternoon return back to
Bagan. Stay overnight at Hotel in Bagan.
Day 4 :: Bagan - Mandalay by morning flight -
Amarapura :: B/-/-
Transfer to Bagan Airport for domestic flight to
Mandalay. Upon arrival at the new Mandalay
Airport proceed directly to Amarapura. Visit
MAHAGANDAYON, a famous Buddhist monastery, where
more than a thousand monks reside and study;
continue to the 200-year-old U BEIN teak bridge,
built in 1782 at the time when Amarapura was the
royal capital. Visit to BAGAYA MONASTERY, with a
superb collection of Buddha statues. En route,
stop at a traditional hand-weaving silk
workshop. Drive to Mandalay and check-in at
hotel. Afternoon, proceed on a comprehensive
sightseeing tour including MAHAMUNI PAGODA with
its spectacular Buddha image covered with thick
layers of gold leaves, SHWE INBIN, one of the
most outstanding monasteries in the country,
SHWE NAN DAW KYAUNG or GOLDEN PALACE MONASTERY,
a superb example of a traditional wooden
building and KUTHODAW PAGODA, known as the
world's largest book, consisting of 729 marble
slabs engraved with Buddhist scriptures. Enjoy

Mandalay.
Day 5 :: Mandalay -Mingun by boat :: B/-/-
A boat
trip on the mighty AYEYARWADDY RIVER takes you
to MINGUN about 11 km (1 hour) upriver from
Mandalay whereby visits include the MINGUN BELL,
weighing 90 tons and being the largest un-
cracked bell in the world, HSINBYUME PAYA and
the unfinished MINGUN PAYA, built as one of the
world's largest Zedi by megalomaniac King Bodaw
Paya. In the afternoon, visit MANDALAY PALACE,
former royal residence of King Mindon and his
successor King Thibaw. It was a city in the
city, like the Forbidden City in Beijing/ China.
Afterwards proceed to the clock tower and nearby
Zeigyo market. Stay overnight at Hotel in
Mandalay.
Day 6 :: Mandalay - Heho by morning flight -
Pindaya - Inle Lake :: B/-/-
Transfer to Mandalay Airport for domestic flight
to Heho. Upon arrival in Heho, drive overland
through beautiful scenery to PINDAYA (60 km - 1
½ hours). Visit to the unique PINDAYA CAVES
wherein thousands of Buddha images placed by
pilgrims over many centuries. Afternoon, proceed
by road to INLE LAKE (90 km - 2 ½ hours) and by
boat to the hotel. Stay overnight at hotel on/at
Inle Lake.
Day 7 :: Inle Lake - Heho - Yangon by evening
flight :: B/-/-
During
today's excursion by boat in the picturesque
Inle Lake by witnessing the famous leg rowers,
the typical floating gardens and local methods
of fishing and village life. Lunch will be taken
at a local restaurant on the lake. Further
visits are made to PHAUNG DAW OO PAGODA, the
weaving village of INPAWKHON and other
interesting sights. Afternoon, proceed to Heho
Airport (25 km-1 hour) for domestic flight to
Yangon and transfer to hotel. Balance of the day
at leisure to pursue individual interests (if
time permits). Overnight in Yangon.
Day 8 :: Yangon - Bago - Kyaikhtiyo :: B/-/-
After
an early breakfast drive via Bago to KIN PUN
"base camp" (194 km - 5 hours). On the way,
visit KYAIK PUN PAGODA, famous for its four
giant Buddhas. In Bago stop at KYAKHAT WINE
monastery where you will see over 1000 Buddhist
monks having their merit lunch with total
silence by approx. 10:30 am.! Continue to
KYAIKHTIYO (approx. 3 hours), the Golden Rock, a
huge boulder completely covered by gold leaves
and delicately balanced on the edge of a cliff.
From Kin Pun Base Camp, a steep and rough 11 km
dirt road leads to the upper staging point, a
journey made in open trucks. From there,
travellers must at present walk the final stage,
approximately 4 km up steep paths, which ascend
some 500 m to the GOLDEN ROCK. On top of the
hill, enjoy the beautiful panoramic view over
the Sittaung River valley. Overnight at Hotel
near Golden Rock.
Day 9 :: Kyaikhtiyo - Bago - Yangon :: B/-/-
After
breakfast climb down to base camp and drive back
to Yangon. On the way, visit Bago, the ancient
Mon Capital Bago is situated 80 km northeast of
Yangon. Tour highlight include a worthy visit to
SHWEMAWDAW Pagoda, a pagoda that is even higher
than Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon!
In the
afternoon, a short visit to SHWETHALYAUNG, the
most beautiful Reclining Buddha; On the way back
to Yangon visit the ALLIED WAR CEMETERY at
Htaukkyant if desired. Stay overnight at Hotel
in Yangon.
Day 10 :: Yangon-International departure ::
