areas of Phrao, staying at the new Akha
outpost beautifully located at the top of
mountain and soft trekking through beautiful
rainforests, impressive lake and waterfalls
to Khum Lanna, a cosy and welcoming Thai
house, built in teak wood and surrounded by
rice fields. Complete your trip by learning
the secrets of the world-famous Thai
cuisine!
Itinerary
Day 1: CHIANG MAI – AKHA OUTPOST (L/D)
Depart from Chiang Mai by local truck and
drive north to Chiang Dao district to visit
Lisu, Lahu and Palong hill tribe villages.
Picnic lunch provided at Palong village.
Then experience with an hour approximately
elephant riding to Ban Mae Jon. Take about 3
hours walk along the nature trail up to the
mountain to end up at The Akha Outpost, The
views from this point are spectacular,
looking north to the valley far below or
east to the mountain peaks stretching
towards Burma and Laos. Dinner & overnight
at Akha Outpost.
Day 2: AKHA OUTPOST – KHÛM LANNA (B/L/D)
After breakfast, walk about 3 hours down the
hill passing by the waterfall to end up at
the Akha village. Followed by soft mountain
biking for about 10 kms dirt & paved road
along the beautiful scenery to enjoy lunch
at the Khûm Lanna. In Afternoon, take a
biking tour and see the abundant agriculture
products such as rice, corn, chili, peanut,
soybean, potato, etc. Enjoy conversation and
exchange with the local farmers. Visit the
huge reclining Buddha image at Wat Tham Dork
Kum before returning to the Khûm Lanna.
Dinner & overnight at Khûm Lanna.
Day 3: KHÛM LANNA – CHIANG MAI (B/L)
Breakfast at Khûm Lanna. Experience a market
tour in Phrao District with an introduction
of Thai ingredients and pastes, and then
back for cooking class at Khûm Lanna, the
course includes:
* Introduction to Thai ingredients
* Comprehensive and easy to follow recipe
book
* Eating all foods prepared in tradition
northern Thai style
* The demonstration and cooking of 4 dishes
* Tour of the herb garden
* Seasonal fruit tasting
Late afternoon, transfer to Chiang Mai. End
